DESCRIPTION:On Saturday evening\, September 16th at 6 p.m.\, the Sagamore Hill Band & Roosevelt Songbirds\, a Long Island music group whose mission is to collect\, preserve and present music dedicated to\, or connected with\, Theodore Roosevelt\, will present a concert of this music on the grounds of Sagamore Hill near the Pet Cemetery. The concert will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. Audience members are invited to bring folding chairs and/or blankets to sit on as well as small picnic supplies.\n\n\n\nThe theme of the presentation is "Teddy's Wonderful World." The concert pays tribute to several of the places important to the life of Theodore Roosevelt: Oyster Bay\, North Dakota\, the Panama Canal\, New York State\, Yosemite National Park\, as well as many others. The concert will open with a song entitled\, "Sagamore Hill March\," which was composed by Donald N. Luckenbill for the opening of Sagamore Hill as a National Historic Site in 1953. Students ages 8-16 are invited to come to the park 90 minutes early and learn to sing the song and perform it with the Roosevelt Songbirds as the first selection of the concert.\n\n\n\nThe grand finale of the concert is a musical tribute to the 230 million acres of land preserved by Theodore Roosevelt. The work\, entitled All Nature's Realm Is Served by the Lands T.R. Preserved\, was composed by the conductor\, Stephen Walker.
