DESCRIPTION:The next installment of Friends of the Bay's 2019 Speaker Series is a presentation by Volunteers for Wildlife on "Living with Wildlife on Long Island" on November 20 at 6:30 pm at Friends of the Bay (111 South Street in Oyster Bay). Free.  In this program you will meet some of the reptiles\, mammals and birds that call Long Island home. The presenter will give in-depth explanations about their unique adaptations and explore their role in our local ecosystem. Find out why these animals came to the Wildlife Hospital and learn how you can help others like them on Long Island.\n\n \n\nVolunteers for Wildlife\, Inc. is a nonprofit wildlife hospital and education center dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Long Island's wildlife and natural ecosystems. The center is located on the grounds of Bailey Arboretum in Locust Valley. Each year they accept nearly 2\,000 patients who are in need of care. A large portion of these patients are songbirds\, waterfowl\, and small mammals\, with many of these patients arriving in the spring in the midst of "baby season." They also treat raptors\, reptiles\, and amphibians. All their patients are native to Long Island.\n\n\n\nThe mission of Friends of the Bay\, an environmental advocacy organization located in Oyster Bay\, NY\, is to preserve\, protect and restore the ecological integrity and productivity of the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor estuary and the surrounding watershed.
