DESCRIPTION:Friends of the Bay will hold a "Float Our Boat" fundraiser on Monday\, August 19 from 6:30   9 p.m. at Oyster Bay Brewing Company (36 Audrey Avenue) to raise funds to buy a new boat for water quality monitoring. Tickets are $22 in advance\, $25 at the door and includes food (provided by Coach Grill & Tavern) and one raffle ticket.\n\n \n\nWe need a new boat to better carry out our mission of protecting the Oyster Bay and Cold Spring Harbor estuary and surrounding watershed. Their current skiff is used primarily for water quality testing\, but it is inadequate\, particularly in bad weather. We are hoping to purchase a used 25-foot Parker with a small cabin that can be taken out in colder and less ideal weather. With a new boat\, not only can they extend the monitoring season\, but also expand its use to other functions\, such as taking students out for environmental education. \n\n\n\nGood friends\, delicious food and beer\, plus cool raffle prizes add up to a fun night for a good cause.
